A couple of weeks ago at the ASHA Schools Conference, I had the privilege of meeting Syndy from Speecharoo Apps! Here’s a shot of all of us being the strong women that we are. 🙂
I’m happy to be reviewing her new Funny Directions app for you today! Though I was provided a copy of this app, the thoughts and opinions are all mine.
It’s super cute and targets one, two, and three-step directions using 4 different scenes. On the home page, just choose the scene and tap the number of directions you would like your student to follow.
Each scene has unique pictures and items that the student can interact with. Below is the beach scene. The directions are given verbally and written.
One-step directions involve things like tickling, pushing, or finding a picture. Two and three step directions mostly involve interacting with more than one picture. For example, pick up the book and give it to the mouse. If the direction is completed correctly, the pictures do and say funny little things for reinforcement.
You can see the written direction at the top of the screen. Also at the top of the screen, there are options to go back to the home screen, repeat the direction, and keep track of the student’s performance on that screen.
The settings button at the top right corner gives you the option of turning off the written direction and verbal direction.
After the student completes 10 targets, a reward screen comes up and asks you to help the kangaroo pop some balloons.
This app is very straightforward and easy to use. The graphics are cute and reinforcing for younger kids. It’s perfect for those of you who might not be super tech savvy and just like to keep it simple. You cannot keep individual student data inside this app, other than their performance on each scene. This is probably why they can keep this app so reasonably priced at only $2.99! Grab it on iTunes HERE. Check out the full preview on their website HERE.
Speecharoo even gave me a copy of this app to giveaway! YAY! Just leave a comment below to enter. I’ll choose a winner on Monday.
