Speech Therapy Back-to-School Ideas

OK, I admit it.  I actually love back-to-school season.  I know it’s the end of summer, and most people dread giving up their freedom and heading back to the speech therapy classroom.  And, yes, I do too. But there’s something about the combination of school supplies, new tote bags, and a fresh start that excites me.  

Once the bell rings that first day though, crunch time begins!  It’s all chaos and schedules and new faces and data collecting. I often wonder which is worse, the beginning of the year or end of the year.  Good thing I have a few favorite speech therapy back to school ideas to help me out. 

Here’s what I love using during back-to-school season.  

1. Back-to-School Classroom Starter Kit

This is perfect for getting my classroom off the ground.  It’s got everything from a reward system to binder covers. Plus, these conversation sticks are always a hit!

2. Cute Speech Room Decor

I’ve had this cute teal and chalkboard decor the past few years and I love it!  All the cute signs are great for dressing up my desk and the rules are a staple for my bulletin board.

3. A Good Planner

4. Baseline Data Tools

OK, these tools are pretty much how I get through the beginning of the year data collection madness.  I have them for articulation and language and even use them for progress monitoring each 9 weeks.
