ASHA Convention <3

November 17, 2015

Yesterday, I got home from an amazing weekend.  I would never have imagined all of the adventures this little blog journey would take me on.  I probably would have never considered flying across the country alone to attend an ASHA convention if it wasn’t for all the sweet friends I’ve made over the last 3 years.

We had a blast in the exciting city of Denver!  I saw lots of snow as I flew in on Wednesday, but by the time I got to the city most of it was melted unfortunately.  So this Louisiana girl had to settle for playing with the snow remnants on cars and in flower pots.  Ha!

If you’ve never been to an ASHA convention, I highly recommend it!  It’s a great way to meet other SLPs who are passionate about our field and attend some great sessions by some expert professionals.  Speaking of sessions, I was able to attend 2 fantastic presentations by some of my very own bloggy besties!

The lovely Nicole Allison from Allison’s Speech Peeps and Jenna Rayburn from Speech Room News gave a presentation on Practical Therapy Ideas for Implementing the Common Core.  It was a packed out house and overflow rooms!  I love hearing practical ideas I can take home with me and do on Monday.  They rocked it!

Danielle Reed from Sublime Speech, Maureen Wilson from the Speech Bubble along with Felice from the Dabbling Speechie, Natalie Snyders SLP, and Super Power Speech also gave a fabulous presentation on Social Media and the SLP.

Over at the exhibit hall we gave out free swag and chatted with thousands of other SLPs about blogs and TPT.

And of course we made time for a little fun!  😉

Oh and did I mention that I got to meet the creator of Story Grammar Marker and her daughter Sheila?  They were super sweet!

I had so much fun seeing familiar faces and meeting new ones.  It’s so cool to be able to actually meet some of you face to face.  I loved every minute!  Well until next year…
